In the mid-80s, Universal Welding developed the Universal Series Magnetic Separator for use in foundry blast applications to separate and clean shot and sand. The system begins with a rotary screen or tramp screen, followed by two magnetic drums with bi-pole flux fields and is finished off with an air-wash classifier. The result is an outstanding magnetic separation of shot and sand, longer life for blast machine blades and liners, reduced blast cycle times and lower overall operating costs.
